Copyright & DMCA Policy

Last updated: June 22, 2026

Verify, Inc. (“Verify”) respects the intellectual-property rights of others and responds to clear notices of alleged copyright infringement consistent with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”), 17 U.S.C. § 512. This policy explains how to report material you believe infringes your copyright, how to file a counter-notice, and our policy on repeat infringers.

1. Reporting alleged infringement (takedown notice)

If you believe content accessible on Verify infringes a copyright you own or control, please send a written notice to our Designated Agent (below) that includes all of the following, as required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3):

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or a person authorized to act on their behalf.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed.
  3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it (for example, the account, document, or report reference).
  4. Your contact information (name, address, telephone number, and email).
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the disputed use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf.

2. Designated Copyright Agent

[Founder action required: appoint and register a DMCA Designated Agent with the U.S. Copyright Office (dmca.copyright.gov), then insert the agent’s name, mailing address, telephone number, and email here. DMCA safe-harbor protection is not available until a Designated Agent is registered. Do not rely on this section until completed.]

3. Our response and removal

On receipt of a notice that substantially complies with the requirements above, we will remove or disable access to the identified material in appropriate circumstances. Verify supports permanent deletion of an uploaded contract together with its extracted text, identified parties, generated reports, and stored file. We may notify the affected user that the material has been removed.

4. Counter-notice

If you are the user whose material was removed and you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, you may submit a written counter-notice to our Designated Agent that includes, as required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(g)(3):

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal.
  3. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your judicial district (or, if outside the U.S., any judicial district in which Verify may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the complaining party or its agent.

If we receive a valid counter-notice, we may restore the removed material in 10 to 14 business days after forwarding it to the original complainant, unless that complainant notifies us that it has filed a court action seeking to restrain the allegedly infringing activity.

5. Repeat infringer policy

Verify will, in appropriate circumstances and at its discretion, suspend or terminate the accounts of users who are subject to repeated valid notices of infringement.

[Founder decision: define the threshold that constitutes a “repeat infringer” (e.g., number of valid notices within a period) and the enforcement steps.]

6. Misrepresentations

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material is infringing, or that material was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages. Please do not make false claims.

7. Contact

Notices and counter-notices must be sent to our Designated Agent (Section 2). General questions about this policy may be sent to legal@verify.inc.[Founder decision: confirm legal@verify.inc exists/is monitored, or substitute the correct address.]
